M3 or NGC 5272 is a globular cluster located in the constellation Canes Venatici, the Hunting Dogs. It is one of the brightest, largest globular clusters in the sky and is about 33,900 light years away from Earth.

The cluster has an estimated total mass of about 450,000 solar masses and contains approximately half a million stars.
